  • Meet Ekow Yusuf Manly-Spain, Director of Tennis

    Ekow Yusuf Manly-Spain is the Founder and Director of Tennis at WITA Tennis Solutions.

    He is a certified and licensed PTR Professional, LTA Level 4 Senior Performance Coach, and RPT Professional Tennis Director. He has also completed extensive certification through the ITF Academy Coach Programme, covering disciplines including player development, tactical analysis, tennis periodisation, coaching ethics, communication, training female tennis players, tennis-specific strength and conditioning, tennis Xpress fundamentals, and match data for tactical analysis.

    Ekow competed professionally on the European and African tournament circuits before becoming a full-time professional coach in 1991.

    For more than 27 years, Ekow has coached players across every level of the game. His expertise includes:

    • Biomechanical correction and technical analysis

    • Cardio tennis
    • Tennis-specific strength and conditioning

  • He has worked alongside some of the United Kingdom’s most respected coaches, assisting junior county players, national competitors, and international athletes.

    Ekow is currently based at Westway Tennis and Fitness Centre as an Independent Tennis Professional, available Monday to Thursday and Saturday mornings.

    Beyond coaching, he consults in tennis marketing, tennis-specific fitness testing, overseas training programmes, gap year tennis opportunities in Morocco and the United Kingdom, and delivers exclusive executive tennis holidays in London and Morocco. He is also a Brand Ambassador for Yonex and provides private coaching to VVIP clients.

  • In 1995, Ekow joined the coaching team at Westway Indoor Tennis Centre, working with some of London’s most talented inner-city juniors. He later became Head Coach at Exportise Sports Camps, founded by Olympic gold medallist Steve Bachelor and Dutch Olympian Bram Van Asset, overseeing elite pro tennis camps featuring intensive coaching, match play, and video technical assessments.

    Ekow has worked closely with former England Women’s Team Manager Sue Mappin and the Cliff Richard Tennis Foundation. He also travelled across the UK introducing mini tennis into schools alongside Paul Regan, former Head of Coaching Education at the Tennis Foundation.

    Ekow is also a former licensed referee and member of ABTO, Association of British Tennis Officials, organising junior and adult competitive events.

    • Mahmah Mohamed, widely known as Simo, serves as the Principal Coach at WITA Tennis in Morocco. Simo’s journey in tennis began at an early age, where he honed his skills competing throughout Morocco and across Europe. His extensive playing experience laid a solid foundation for his transition into coaching, shaping his understanding of the sport’s demands at the highest levels.

    His international experience and affiliation with ATP events bring valuable opportunities and fresh perspectives to the local tennis community, inspiring emerging athletes to pursue excellence.
